City Sprouts is a local, grassroots community gardening project located in inner-city Omaha.
Our half-acre garden is at 40th St. and Franklin St. (3 blocks north of Hamilton St.) in the Orchard Hill Neighborhood of North Omaha.
Our community and education center is at 4002 Seward St. -- the salmon pink house just south of the alley behind our garden.
During growing season (which begins in May and runs to late October) we hold regular weekly work parties in the garden
We now have 45 raised beds in the garden, 7 of which have high sides for wheelchair access. If you have questions about working with us or using a family gardening bed for the 2008 growing season, please email Andrew at ajameton@unmc.edu

A special thanks to UNO service learning volunteers who helped out during this October's three days of service!
And, to the programs that participated, such as ROTC, Goodrich, Construction Management, Social Work, and others. Thank you also to Paul Sather, Mike Carroll, Arturo Miranda, Jack Raitt, and others, for your great help in organizing and leading the project. Thank you also to Girls Inc. for hosting a wonderful completion celebration.
Volunteers built seven new wheelchair accessible beds, added benches to the pergola, prepared the third floor of the education center for painting, cleaned up the second for for rental, and many other tasks.

The Peter Kiewit Foundation / Mayor's Office / OPPD sponsored Garden Redesign project is nearly finished.
You can drive by and see the new beds. The pergola makes a lovely place for lunch on a sunny winter day.
We have 45 nice 4 ft x 8 ft raised beds at the garden, about half of which are available for individual or family gardens. The other half are being shared as community beds. The beds are filled with good soil and mulched, with screening below to keep moles out. We now also have seven higher beds designed for wheelchair access.
